NEWS IN BRIEF: Brightstar Environmental


Environmental groups are to protest against plans for a waste gasification and incineration plant going before Derby City Council planning committee this week. The proposed incinerator, backed by waste operator Brightstar Environmental, is to process 50,000t of waste, including organic materials, paper and plastics a year to produce gas.

Waste volumes would be increased to 222,000t a year after 2005.
