News: Highways Agency and Railtrack

The Highways Agency and Railtrack have issued guidelines to their staff, contractors and consultants regarding the foot and mouth crisis. The Agency is warning staff not to travel to farms. And Railtrack is advising staff in rural areas not to approach animals or quarantined farms.

Access to track in such areas should be made along the railway line. Staff should avoid farmland by footpaths or farmhand crossings, and should disinfect wheels and footwear when leaving any farm.
