News: Civil engineering workload

Total civil engineering workload is higher and order books fuller than a year ago, according to the Civil Engineering Contractors Association's latest survey.

Over half the larger contractors anticipate a rise in new orders in the coming 12 months, with demand for staff and operatives growing stronger.

Sectors offering the best prospects are motorways and trunk roads, railways and electricity. Smaller firms, however, say they are faring less well.
