Cement producer Blue Circle has been given permission to carry out trials with chipped tyres as partial replacement for the normal coal and petroleum coke fuels at its Hope Works in Derbyshire. Replacement levels of up to 23 per cent have been authorised by the Environment Agency for the six month trial period.
