New rig provides greater depth for London project

A new Casagrande hydraulic piling rig has been purchased by Burras for installation of piles on its new £1.05M project for Regal Homes in Kilburn.

The four storey residential project, which involves secant and concrete piling together with some propping, required a new 55t Casagrande piling rig to install 750mm diameter load bearing piles up to 25m deep.

According to Michael Burras, founder and managing director, the mixed piling solution, which is taking place on 5m of made ground over London clay, holds no real challenges with the new rig able to reach further than the current two rigs on site.

The 18 week project started in April and will require the new rig on site at the end of June.
