New rail line for East Africa

China has reportedly agreed to build a rail line from Kenya into neighbouring countries.

Agreements were signed by Chinese premier Li Keqiang on his tour of Africa, according to Reuters.

The new standard gauge line will run from the port of Mombasa to the capital of Nairobi before going on to Rwanda and South Sudan through Uganda.

Reuters said the China Road and Bridge Corporation had been appointed to construct the Kenyan leg of the new line.
