New guidance issued for sustainable football pitches

Football charity the Football Foundation has issued new guidance on the construction of environmentally friendly football pitches.

The guidance includes the use of sustainable drainage systems (Suds), energy conservation, using on-site renewable energy sources, and waste reduction programmes.

The Football Foundation recommended that clubs of all sizes pursue more environmentally friendly buildings and pitches. It also advised clubs on how to fund such upgrades.

  • Details of the new guidance can be found here.
