New fund targeted at young people

The BGA has unveiled a new fund for raising the understanding and appreciation of geotechnics by young people both inside and outside the industry.

The initiative will target pupils at schools and colleges, as well as providing help in the training and education of undergraduates and graduates in geotechnics.

Donations to the fund are being sought, especially by legacy or through the new tax rebate scheme.

The fund will be administered by the BGA executive committee.

Details are on the BGA website, www. britishgeotech. org. uk, which includes a donation form.

Donors paying income tax should tick the 'Gift aid' box as this will effectively increase the amount gifted by 28%.
