CONSTRUCTION LEGAL fees are in the dock after the launch of a company to address overcharging by solicitors.
Primarily focusing on construction businesses as a key sector affected by large legal bills, Legal Costmasters is a team of barristers and solicitors who specialise in legal costs.
The firm works on a 'no win no fee' basis and offers to examine legal bills to ensure construction companies are not paying over the odds.
If it believes a bill is higher than it should be, it will negotiate with the solicitor or seek the assistance of the court to get it reduced, charging a commission on the saving gained.
'The feeling of being 'stung' by a legal bill is a cliche associated with the legal trade that has its roots in the profession's billing culture, ' said Legal Costmasters chief executive Gary Smith.
'Legal Costmasters has been launched to give construction companies the confidence that they are not paying over the odds for legal services, providing increased confidence that securing a solicitor's services is a worthwhile investment.'
