New director joins British Geological Survey

The British Geological Survey (BGS) has announced the appointment of Mike Stephenson as its new director of science and technology.

Stephenson, whose main expertise is in the fields of palynology and stratigraphy, joined the BGS in 1999 and most recently held the post of head of energy services.

He has represented the organisation at government level on carbon capture and storage and shale gas resources and said he is looking forward to guiding and developing the BGS.
