Network Rail

Network Rail confirmed this week that it is in consultation with trade unions over plans to cut 900 jobs. The redundancies are partly due to the company's decision to bring rail maintenance back in house.

Some employees may be kept on and moved to different departments. The plan is part of the company's strategy to reduce employee numbers by 2000 before June 2006.
