Network Rail tenders Crossrail station works

Network Rail has invited contractors Balfour Beatty, Costain, Hochtief and VolkerFitzpatrick to tender for Crossrail station works contracts between Stratford, London and Shenfield, Essex.

The contractors are being invited to tender for design and build station improvements at Network Rail stations such as Romford and Ilford. Other work includes platform extensions, installation of lifts, extra train stabling and turnback facilities.

“Network Rail is undertaking a major upgrade of the existing rail network that will benefit passengers and freight customers, including a significant programme of track renewals as well as station improvements under the Crossrail programme,” said Network Rail Crossrail senior programme manager Peter Mason.

The detailed design phase will begin in early 2014 and works will take place between late 2014 and 2017.
