Bouygues and MWH lead NCE100 shortlist

NCE100 Opus winner

Bouygues and MWH head the field of 55 civil engineering businesses in the running for coveted NCE100 Companies of the Year Awards 2017.

Both firms have been named in six of the 13 award shortlists being revealed today.

Other firms can also boast multiple shortlistings. Aecom, Arup and WSP have been shortlisted in four categories and Arcadis, Carillion, Mott MacDonald, Royal HaskoningDHV and Tony Gee & Partners all appear three times.

The shortlists cover 10 award categories which recognise firms that are leading the way in five core competencies: talent development, technical excellence, technology leadership, sharing best practice globally and driving diversity and inclusivity.

Another category recognises firms renowned for adopting a collaborative approach and another picks out smaller firms that are punching above their weight.

In addition to the 55 consultants and contractors, seven clients have also been shortlisted for the Client of the Year award, as voted for by the 100 companies making up the NCE100.

And shortlists for two more categories are still to be announced: the SME of the Year and the Client’s Choice Award, as voted for by the clients on the NCE100 judging jury. These will be announced next month.

The NCE100 Companies of the Year Awards sit alongside and feed into the NCE100 ranking of the best civil engineering practices here in the UK and abroad.

The finalists will now face a rigorous face-to-face interviews with our panel of judges made up of clients and peers.

These interviews will determine our category winners but will also inform the overall NCE100 assessment, built on comprehensive analysis of data supplied by the 100 companies but also, crucially, feedback from staff via a detailed employee questionnaire.

The New Civil Engineer team will announce the NCE 100 Awards winners, countdown the top 100 and, finally, reveal the number 1 – the NCE100 Company of the Year – at the awards ceremony on 22 June at Hilton Park Lane Hotel.

The event, now in its second year, and is already a must-attend event, with over 600 industry leaders packing the room to network with clients and peers, recognise their outstanding teams and learn who are the NCE100 Companies of the Year.
