Entries are now being sought for the NCE100 2018: New Civil Engineer’s annual assessment of the most influential, innovative firms operating in civil engineering today.
The NCE100 Power List recognises the firms that are doing the right things, in the right way, to deliver the outcomes that benefit society.
The NCE100 Power List is revealed at a gala dinner in May alongside the NCE100 Awards, which recognise areas of specific excellence and are judged as part of the NCE100 entry process.
WHAT MAKES AN NCE100 COMPANY
The 100 companies in the list will all be firms that are driving the industry forward: increasing productivity; driving cultural change; and delivering for society here in the UK and worldwide.
All firms will be equally recognised as NCE100 companies. The most outstanding, as assessed by New Civil Engineer, our 50-strong panel of judges and supported by the views by their own staff, will be named the NCE100 Company of the Year.
HOW IT WORKS
The assessment process has been revamped for 2018 provide a completely level playing field for all firms working in civil engineering. The questions have been simplified and there is more emphasis on questions that allow you to set out how you are driving change or making an impact. These are the questions that will be scrutinised by our 40-strong client-led judging panel.
The way we present our NCE100 is also changing. There will no longer be a ranking of the top 100; all 100 firms are equally recognized for being NCE100 firms. Only our Top 10 – the truly inspirational firms – will be ranked, with the number one and most impactful company becoming the NCE100 Company of the Year.
Specific areas of excellence will continue to be recognised via the NCE100 Awards.
WHAT WE NEED YOU TO DO
We are now asking companies to consider five of the 15 key questions that we believe best allow them to showcase the innovations they are bringing to the market, the influence they have on industry change initiatives and the impact they are having on society.
The key questions are divided equally between three core themes:
- TECH EXCELLENCE: How you are innovating in what you do
- BUSINESS CULTURE: The cultures you are fostering in doing it
- WORLD VIEW: The impact your work has on society
In parallel with this process, we will ask you to send a short survey to your staff. This is an important part of the process as it provides us with invaluable feedback on what it actually feels like to work for your company. In previous years the results have shown that people working for NCE100 companies are highly satisfied with their working lives.
The scores from your submission, ratified and adjusted where relevant by our judges, will be combined with scores derived from the feedback we get from your staff. This will be used to select our 15 award winners, one for each key question, and our ultimate NCE100 Company of the Year.
