NCE Innovation Awards winners announced

ACO TECHNOLOGY and Biffa Waste Services are the first ever winners of the NCE Innovation Awards at Civils 2006.
The Best New Product and Best New Service awards recognise new thinking in civil engineering, showcasing companies that have allowed civil engineers to make their job quicker, easier and more competitive to conform to ever more stringent legislation.Winner of the best new product category was ACO Technologies, for its ACO Qmax 600 high capacity drainage system. The system is the first to provide both high capacity drainage and storage in one product, meeting strict European legislation. The NCE Best New Service award went to Biffa Waste Services and Biogenie Site Remediation for the Risley Soil Treatment Facility. It is the UK's first fixed soil treatment soil treatment facility, which sits on top of landfill and is powered by its gas emissions. Clients arrive with contaminated soil and pay the site to take it off their hands. The soil is recycled using biological agents, and is then used to regenerate the site itself.
