National rail


Relations with the Strategic Rail Authority (SRA) will dictate whether TfL can turn national rail services in London into a turn up and go London metro with services every six minutes. 'The mayor can issue guidance to the SRA about what he wants when they issue new franchises for the London area.

Discussions are taking place now, ' says TfL's Richard Smith.


Better connections between long distance railway lines run by SNCF and other public transport services in Paris are planned as part of eight major interchange projects.
