Sir Andrew Derbyshire is to retire as president of consultant RMJM to concentrate on his work outside the consultancy.

Ralph Olesen (M) has swapped life as a UK highway engineer for 12 months in Sarajevo advising on contracts for road and bridge reconstruction in Bosnia and Herzegovina. He will work as part of the Second Emergency Transport Reconstruction Project - his second posting to the region, having already worked in Bosnia in 1994-95 repairing roads and tracks for aid convoys.

NCE this week reorganised its editorial team. Alastair McLellan becomes managing editor, Jackie Whitelaw becomes deputy editor (supplements and events) and Antony Oliver becomes deputy editor (news and features). Lisa Russell becomes editor (electronic publishing). In this pioneering move, NCE becomes the first construction magazine to appoint a senior journalist with sole responsibility for the coverage of IT matters and development of electronic publishing opportunities. Russell will take up her new role when she returns from sabbatical in July.
