Ian Clifforde (pictured) has moved from water research body WRc to Binnie Black & Veatch, where he will work in the wastewater department on urban pollution management. Clifforde is the co-author of the 'Urban Pollution Management Manual' and 'Sewerage Rehabilitation Manual'.

White Young Green has made the following appointments as a result of its recent acquisition of Mason Pittendrigh Consulting Engineers: Neil Thomson (F) becomes regional director; Nicholas Hewitt (M), Michael Brewster, Paul Elwell (M) and Russell Smith (M) become associate directors; Brian McGarty (M) becomes an associate.

Anthony Spencer has been made a full partner of Cardiff-based Bay Associates, consulting civil and structural engineers.

WS Atkins Transport Systems has recruited Neil Perks from rival consultant Maunsell. Perks has 27 years experience and will work on developing Atkins' traffic control centre project for the Highways Agency.
