Stewart Paton (F) has left WA Fairhurst and Partners, where he was technical director in the Glasgow office, to establish Stewart Paton Associates.

Richard Fearn is Railtrack's new Midlands zone director. He was previously zonedirector for the North West.

Mike Smith has joined Tarmac's specialist science and environment consultancy Stanger as director of land and water. Sally Goodman also joins Stanger as principal consultant of the environmental management group.

Fred Saunders (M) is consultant White Young Green's regional rail director for Scotland. Saunders was previously a senior engineer with British Rail.
