Pete Treanor (M) has joined JMP Consultants as a divisional director in charge of the company's office in Newcastleupon-Tyne. His expertise ranges from strategic planning to detailed design.

Dr Pav Bingel (M), senior lecturer in civil engineering within the School of the Built Environment at Leeds Metropolitan University, has been promoted to Brick Development Association reader in brickwork masonry.

Dermot Gleeson, executive chairman of MJ Gleeson, has been made a governor of the BBC for the next four years. He will be one of 12 governors whose parttime duties include helping direct the BBC to meet new technological and commercial developments in the broadcasting industry.

Hannah-Reed has acquired the business of Ian Howdill & Associates, a civil and structural engineering consultancy based in Oxford. Hannah-Reed director Philip Seeker will manage the office.
