The Association of Consulting Engineers has appointed Craig Beaumont as assistant director.

Richard Raymond (M) has been appointed managing director of Staffordshire-based concrete pipe manufacturer Hughes Concrete.

Construction consultant Currie & Brown has announced a new management team for its Birmingham office, group directors Lindsay McCombe and Simon Robinson.

Gibb Developments has appointed Pete Cullen (M) as new director responsible for infrastructure. Alan Wooltorton (M) has joined the company's transport consulting group as regional manager for its Scottish operations.

Richard Caborn, minister for trade, has announced the reappointment of Sir Victor Blank as chairman of the Industrial Development Advisory Board. The appointment is for one year from 1 July.

Dr Hussain Al Khalid (M), senior lecturer in civil engineering at Liverpool University, has been appointed director of the MSc course in environmental and civil engineering.

Malcolm Eckersall (F) has been appointed managing director of Balfour Beatty, with responsibility for the group's civil and specialist engineering and services business.

Scott Wilson has awarded fellowships to two young engineers to enable them to take MSc courses at Imperial College, London. They are ecologist Alan Lewis and transport planner Susan Teoh.

Chris Haworth (M) has been appointed as the new managing director of Dean & Dyball Construction. He replaces Adrian Dyball, who becomes group chief executive.
