There are more New Year Honours to announce.

Doug Weston (F),(above) director of projects at the Millennium Commission, has been awarded a CBE. Lt Col Glyn Taylor (M), Lt Col Richard Harvey Williams (M) and Knight Piesold chairman Peter Garratt (F) have received OBEs. Major Laurence Thomas Quinn (M) and Major Anthony John Wakeman (M) have been awarded MBEs.

Peter Chesworth (F),director of Mott MacDonald, has been appointed chairman of the British Consultants Bureau for 2000.

Eric Smith of Hyder Consulting Australia, Edmund Leung, chairman of Hyder Consulting Hong Kong, and Hywel Thomas (M), Director of Water Processes will all join the Executive Board at Hyder Consulting. As part of top- level restructuring at the global consultancy arm of Hyder, a new two- tiered professional board to track technical developments around the world is also

being created, comprising a professional college and a professional forum. The initial appointees for the former grouping are Neil Allen, Andy David, Brett Doughty (M), Jolyon Gill (M), Nigel Hewson (M), Mike Irwin (M), Leo Lee and Steve Neal.

Brett Doughty (M) has also been appointed group director for highways and transportation at Hyder Consulting.
