Taylor Woodrow's construction business has strengthened its management team with the appointment of Doug Weston CBE (F) as business development director. Weston joins from the Millennium Commission where he was responsible for its capital projects construction programme.

He previously worked on projects such as the Tate Modern Gallery, the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, the Eden Project in Cornwall and the Great Court at the British Museum.

Robert Freer (F) has been appointed a vice president of the Royal Institution of Great Britain.

Haswell Consulting Engineers has announced that Carl Lomas (F) has joined them as divisional director for infrastructure. Lomas was previously chief civil engineer and director of transmission projects with National Grid Company.

Dr Jamie Standing (M) of Cambridge University and Dr Lidija Zdravkovic of Imperial College are to become associates of the Geotechnical Consulting Group while maintaining their current university positions.
