Hugh Blackwood, Scott Wilson

Hugh Blackwood was appointed group chief executive of Scott Wilson Group on 1 May 2008.

2 Blackwood joined Scott Wilson in 1971 as a graduate civil engineer. Since then his career has progressed in line with the growth of the business.

3 In the UK, he was responsible for Scott Wilson's input to the M74 extension and the West Coast Main Line upgrade, both of which improved access between his native Scotland and the rest of the world.


4 He spent several years working on overseas projects including the design of the central area infrastructure of Abuja, the federal capital of Nigeria.

5 In his new role, Blackwood will steer Scott Wilson Group plc through its next stage of development and growth toward the vision of creating an integrated global enterprise.

6 Blackwood is passionate about sailing and spends any free time around the West Coast of Scotland on his Scott Wilson branded yacht.

Bill Gloyn from insurance broker Aon has become the first insurance professional to be elected president of the City Property Association (CPA). One of his key objectives is to encourage more involvement in the CPA from the insurance sector given the amount of property owned and occupied by the industry in the City.

Carillion Building has appointed David McKay as regional head of supply chain for its Midlands and South West business. He joins from Bovis Lend Lease where he was head of procurement for the Olympic Village project in Stratford, east London.

Kent Thameside Delivery Board today has appointed Paul Williams as acting chief executive. He will work closely with the Dartford and Gravesham Borough Councils, Kent County Council and other lead agencies in the delivery of Kent Thameside's regeneration.

White Young Green has appointed Paul Hamer as chief operating officer and made him a board director reporting to chief executive, Lawrie Haynes. He joins White Young Green on 1 July, 2008. Hamer is managing director of VT Nuclear Services, part of the VT Group, and has over 20 years experience in business management, leadership and project delivery. He was previously director of projects with BNFL Environmental Services.

Bristol based consultant Kenneth Brown & Partners, has appointed Frank Hodgson, Paul Dawson, Nick Price and Martin Hedges as partners. The firm has also rebranded as KB2. Hodgson is responsible for the structural and civils work of the KB2 design teams, Dawson for project cost control and marketing and Price for budget control and overseeing computer aided structural and finite element design analysis work. Hedges is in charge of the technical team.
