Clare Cooke, C D Gray & Associates

1 Cooke has been promoted to director level at CD Gray & Associates, consulting civil and structural engineers.

2 She joined in November 2000 as a graduate engineer, became a chartered member of the Institution of Civil Engineers in 2001 and was promoted to associate status in November 2002.

3 Her career has been varied and she has gained engineering knowledge working in both the public and the private sectors.

4 Cooke was project manager for the £13M Trago Mills Remediation Scheme which involved moving 1.3M m3 of material, which was predominately colliery shale, £3M worth of drilling and grouting and the construction of an attenuation lake.

5 Cooke will be continuing her work with Trago Mills as the next stage of the scheme is being developed for the construction of the £30M store. This will be the first Trago Mills store outside the West country.

GOING PLACES

ENVIRON has appointed Claude Volker as manager and Environmental Planning team member at its Edinburgh office. Volker, a chartered landscape architect, is an experienced Environmental Impact Assessment project director and landscape/visual impact assessor.

Davis Langdon has promoted of Tim Austin to partner. He has been with the firm's Birmingham office for five years and has worked on high profile projects including the development of Colmore Plaza – the new home to Davis Langdon's Birmingham operation – and the Youth Hostel Association's Change Management Programme.

Hanson Formpave has appointed Nick Riddle as the company's business merchants manager. He will be primarily responsible for building relationships with key accounts and merchant buying groups. Hanson Formpave has also named Peter Johns as national specification manager. He will be responsible for the company's market leading permeable paving product Aquaflo business division, and will be ensuring that new product and SUDS technology innovations are communicated to specifiers.

Bison Concrete Products has appointed Stephen Bracegirdle as its new chief executive. He has held senior posts in different industries including footwear, food processing, transport, electronics and automotive.

Able Piling & Construction have appointed David Wandless as operations manager. Wandless will be developing Able Piling's growth in the UK foundations market with special emphasis on techniques such as the Atlas auger displacement, bored, injected and driven piles.
