MTR wins Crossrail operating concession

Transport for London (TfL) has picked MTR as preferred operator for the Crossrail concession.

The eight-year agreement, with an option for a further two years, will cover operation of train services on the 100km Crossrail railway. The service will commence in phases from 2015 to 2019.

MTR will deliver train and passenger service operations, which includes running the 40 Crossrail stations.

The firm currently operates the London Overground service.

MTR will also provide testing and commissioning activities for the new railway and manage system interfaces across the wider project, working with TfL, Network Rail, and Crossrail.
