Moving systems

GEC-Alsthom was last week confirmed as preferred contractor for WCML's moving block signalling system.

The signalling supplier has devised a 'migration strategy' to help it avoid problems encountered by competitor Westinghouse on the delayed Jubilee Line Extension in London (see page 14).

GEC Alsthom's strategy is to upgrade existing signalling systems progressively to be compatible with moving block technology as it comes on stream.
