Moving on

May Gurney and Railtrack have formed a partnership to extend the Tyne & Wear Metro into Sunderland. The project, which will allow both trains and light rail to use the existing Railtrack system, includes partial reconstruction of three major structures carrying busy roads over the lines. Three new footbridges are to be constructed as well as alterations to parapets on 16 further bridges on the £100M contract.
