Client Abu Dhabi Sewerage Services Company has this week appointed consultant Mott MacDonald on one of the world’s largest underground pumping stations.

The consultant will provide contract administraion and site overview to the new station which will be over 100m deep and around 40m in diameter and will have an ultimate peak pumping capacity of approximately 3.3M.m3 per day.

Construction of the plant is part of the sewage company’s plans to increase the network and treatment plants in the region to cope with increaseing growth. Key to its plans is a deep 41km long tunnel sewer and several systems of link sewers that will be connected to the new pumping station.

The project is due for completion at the end of 2015.
