Motts secure £71M Norwegian rail contract

Consultant Mott MacDonald this week won a €90M (£71M) contract to design a workshop and depot serving the Bergen light rail system in Norway.

The new depot will serve up to 70 trams across Bergen’s light rail network. The city is expanding its network in five stages through to 2017.

Mott MacDonald will provide full detailed design on the project, including architecture, engineering, cost management and equipment specification, while also assisting with procurement during construction.

The depot is due to open in 2015.

The firm has also won a £175M contract to provide detailed design for Stage Three of Bergen’s light rail development.
