Mott MacDonald buys South African consultant

Consultant Mott MacDonald is buying South African consultant PD Naidoo & Associates to strengthen its position in the African market.

The acquisition will create Mott MacDonald PDNA, an 800-strong practice operating from 15 centres across South Africa, Botswana and Mozambique. It will provide design, implementation and management services in the infrastructure, transport, water, industrial, mining, energy, communications, health and education sectors.

The merger is subject to approval by the Competition Commission of South Africa.

“Bringing a company of PDNA’s standing into the group will give our combined southern Africa operation the scope and scale to tackle a greater number of the more complex and strategic next-generation projects that our clients want to take forward to support the region’s social and economic success,” said Mott MacDonald’s chairman Keith Howells.
