Mott MacDonald buys Brazilian consultant Habtec

Consultant Mott MacDonald is to buy Brazilian environmental consultancy Habtec Engenharia Ambiental, the firm announced this week.

The acquisition is part of Mott MacDonald’s strategy to establish itself in Brazil and expand its business in South America.

“Habtec has an excellent reputation and shares the same values and has a similar culture to Mott MacDonald,” said Mott MacDonald’s chairman Keith Howells. “Bringing Habtec into the Group will allow the development and growth of what is already a highly regarded team and will give us a base in Brazil from which to offer the full range of Mott Macdonald’s services.”

Habtec works primarily in the energy, mining and transport sectors providing impact studies, compliance support and monitoring projects.
