Speedy in Costain Abu Dhabi plant deal

Costain has signed a three-year agreement with Speedy Asset International Services to supply all non-operated plant and equipment to its Abu Dhabi operation.

Speedy Hire only established itself in the Gulf in 2009, but was already one of Costain’s strategic partners in the UK.

The agreement was signed after six months of work to ensure mutual benefits would flow from it, said Costain commercial director Rob Davies.

He added that, by securing most of Costain’s business in this market, Speedy will have a better understanding of the contractor’s requirements and can plan its own workload more accurately. Costain will benefit financially by placing a larger volume of work with one supplier.

The Speedy contract is likely to be the prototype for other, similar deals in the United Arab Emirates, he added.
