Morrison to build prototype module for BAS

Contractor Morrison is to build and test a prototype module of the British Antarctic Survey's (BAS) new Halley VI research station this winter. Trials were given the go ahead following selection this week of a new research station design by Faber Maunsell and architect Hugh Broughton. The £19M Halley VI will replace BAS' existing Antarctic base, which sits on a piece of the Brunt Ice Shelf that is in imminent danger of breaking off (NCE 2 December 2004).
