Morgan Sindall wins £1.1M rail deal

A £1.1M contract from London Underground to carry out works as part of Crossrail’s enabling work at Whitechapel has been won by Midland construction and infrastructure firm Morgan Sindall.

The existing platforms and station layout will be modified by the work.

The upgrade is designed to fit in with the remodelling of the track layout to accommodate the proposed Crossrail construction works, which will need new platform extensions.

“Morgan Sindall has an established long-term working relationship with London Underground and is delighted to be involved in this project which signifies the preparatory works for Crossrail,” said Morgan Sindall Infrastructure managing director Jag Paddam.

“Design work is currently under way with work due to take place over a 16-week period in October.”

The project is due to be completed in February 2011.
