David Renard, a Computer Aided Design Technician at Morgan Est, won the highly commended prize at the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) West Midlands Annual Award.

The awards showcase civil engineering excellence and celebrate the talents of graduates, students and technicians.

The 22-year-old, who is studying for a Higher National Certificate in Civil Engineering at Coventry University, was one of four people to win the ICE Technicians’ Award.

David, who was nominated by his university lecturer for outstanding performance during the last academic year by achieving excellent grades in his exams, said: “It was a huge surprise to win this highly commended award and I feel proud that my efforts have been recognised at this level.”

He won £100 for his achievement and has big plans for his future career development, David added: “I intend to study for a degree next year and then work towards Chartership status with the ICE.”

Mark Cutler, Managing Director of Morgan Est, said: “I am delighted that David’s hard work and dedication has been acknowledged. Talented trainees like David are a credit to the future of the profession.”
