Missing the link

Letters

I found the article on tunnelling in Istanbul (NCE last week) both interesting and fascinating.

Details of the problems encountered during the construction of such a massive project made stimulating reading, not least the problems caused by the archeological finds. A bigger problem will no doubt be encountered by the 'missing link'.

The statistics for the project quote a total length of 76.3 km with 19.3km on the European side and 43.4 km on the Asian side. I hope the missing link of 13.6 km is not in the middle and that the project doesn't become another sunken treasure!
