Millennium dinner a sell-out

FOR THE first time in years late ticket hunters were turned away from the new look Midlands Millennium Dinner at the Burlington Hotel in Birmingham, hosted by chairman Colin Clinton and supported by Heart FM.

Gone were the traditional Institution speeches. Instead, the 350 guests enjoyed a new millennium celebration of civil engineering in the Midlands.

After dinner speakers, Frank Dick, president of the European Athletics Coaches Association (and formerly Linford Christie's coach) and David Kendall, known as the 'Bank Manager from York', were well received.
