Metro scoops Fleming Award

The team that built the north-south metro project for Amsterdam Central Station came out as the winner of this year's BGA Fleming Award at the final late last year.

They walked away with the £3000 cheque from award sponsor Cementation Foundation Skanska.

The winning presentation team included construction manager Advise Bureau Noord/Zuidlijn, consultant RD Geotech, designer VOF Station Island (a joint venture between Arcadis and Movares), and the principal contractor, a joint venture between Strukton Betonbouw and Van Oord ACZ. The subcontractor for jet grouting was Smet-Keller but was not represented during the presentation.

The other two finalist projects were King's Cross underground station redevelopment – phase II, northern ticket hall and associated tunnels, and Bow Bells House, City of London.
