Merseyrail to start £10M framework bid race

Nortrh West rail operator Merseyrail will invite bids for its £10M construction contractor’s framework for work across the region, including large schemes such as station rebuilds.

The principal contractors framework will be divided into three lots. One will be for work up to £100,000 and another is for work valued between £100,000 to £1M, and for work worth more than £1M across the network.

The third lot will include large schemes such as new station design and build, and station enhancements. The first two lots will be for repairs, minor refurbishments and medium-sized schemes.

Merseyrail is  “currently delivering various projects across the network ranging from large schemes station rebuilds, lift installations to small schemes covering booking office refurbishments”. Work is expected to include station refurbishment, work on water and heating systems, car park construction and structural repairs. 

Merseyrail operates in Liverpool and on the Wirral and Northern Lines in Merseyside, with a network of 66 stations. 

Procurement is expected to start on 12 March and potential bidders should express interest via email  by 9 February.
