Meridian 2 maps the roads

Rationalisation of the Ordnance Survey's small and medium size computer mapping products has inspired the launch of Meridian 2, due out in January next year.

Based on the original Meridian data, Meridian 2 now incorporates OSCAR Route-Manager, which names, numbers and locates all classified roads in Britain For the first time users will be able to chose between two data themes, which will take from Meridian 2 only the information they need for their project. The communications theme shows and names roads, tracks railway routes and is fully compatible with route planning software.

Choosing the topographic theme will give access to information on administrative boundaries, areas of developed land, woods, coastlines and heights above sea level.

This new approach will give OS customers greater flexibility.
