May Gurney Technical Services is using its new TEI-HEM excavatormounted drilling equipment to install 1800 soil nails for Railtrack May Gurney Structures Partnership on the Hertford Loop embankments at Hornsmill.

Up to 15m long hollow self-grouting soil nails are being installed, and grout injected as drilling proceeds, allowing the railway to stay open throughout.

The TEI-HEM equipment is fitted with a 360infinity degree roll-positioner, allowing installation at any angle, and can also be used for installing ground anchors and micropiles.
