Maximising potential

I have read with interest recent articles on the Severn Barrage proposal.

Aside from the potential benefits that the barrage would provide in terms of energy, I have yet to see any specific proposals for transportation links that might be incorporated as part of the barrage project.

If the project is to be seen as a fully integrated and sustainable piece of new national infrastructure it should surely include a new road and a new rail link across it to connect South Wales with the west of England and so reduce average travel distances between these regions.
