Maunsell HQ moves to UK

MAUNSELL HAS relocated its global head office from Hong Kong to the UK to target the US and Continental Europe.

The move coincides with the appointment of former Australian group boss David Odgers as the consultant's chief executive after Hong Kong-based John Downer became chairman.

Together with European group chief executive Peter Head, Odgers will initially oversee a strategy to drive the consultant deeper into mainland Europe.

Workload in the region doubled during 1998.

Odgers said he was confident of further steady growth partly driven by the pressure the European Commission is putting on mainland governments to open up markets to foreign firms.

In the medium term Odgers, who is now based in Maunsell's Beckenham office, will turn the firm's attention to the US.
