Market forces issue

I agree with Alaistair Smith's letter (NCE 14 February) that economics and market forces are at the heart of investment decisions. He points out the unsustainable fact that Londoners and the rest of the UK is indulging in asset inflation at the terrible price of failing to properly pay for infrastructure investment.

If civil engineers do not make the case for properly funding projects then the problems to come on the PPP will once again be classed as a failure by our industry.
