March to the south

In March president Fox unveiled a regional development plan for southern Mexico, the Marcha Hacia el Sur (March to the South). About £11M has been earmarked for projects aimed at boosting investment in the states of Guerrero, Oaxaca, Chiapas, Veracruz, Tabasco and Campeche. Economic growth in the south will require corresponding development of all principal infrastructures. Development of transport infrastructure needed for the Puebla-Panama trade axis will require a budget of at least £5.5bn.
