Manchester pity

Letters

I am very disappointed to learn of the decision to axe the planned phase three Metrolink extension in Manchester. The new link would serve some of the most deprived areas in the UK, attracting new people and thus investment that the area so desperately needs.

As part of the Eastlands regeneration project, we have so far seen the construction of the City of Manchester Stadium and the securing of hundreds of millions of pounds of investment for the whole area.

It would be a huge undermining blow to this investment if we were not to get this essential public transport system. It is simple; phase three must go ahead.
