Man killed after cherry picker fall

A man has been killed after a bus hit the cherry picker he was working on, knocking him out of the bucket and under the vehicle's wheels.
The man had been replacing windows on the Wilmslow Road in Rusholme, Manchester, at a height of about 3m. The bus apparently swerved to avoid something on the road, colliding with a lamp post and the crane, throwing the man out and into the vehicle's path, where he became trapped. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. The police arrested a man on suspicion of death by dangerous driving. This is the fourth accident involving a crane in as many weeks, with accidents in Battersea, Holborn and Purley.
