Major project of the year

For civil engineering projects with a total cost exceeding £5M. Eligible schemes have to have been completed within the judging year (1 May 2000 to 30 April 2001).

Entered by either or both the principal contractor/principal designer, the entry must be supported by the client, who can only support one entry for each scheme.

Entries should outline the project and any conditions and circumstances unique to it.

Judging criteria: How will the project benefit railway operations?

What was its performance against schedule? What was its disruptive impact on existing services? Did all parties work as a team? The views of the client, railway operators and users will be taken into account.

Judges will visit the shortlisted sites and/or interview the entrants.
