MAI-OH-MAI

NEWS

This massive 115m high, 1500t petro-chemical vessel was lifted into place for Formosa Heavy Industries Corporation last week at its Mai Liao plant in Taiwan. Four 580t Zalcon strand jacks mounted on a 72m tall U-frame were used to hoist the vessel vertically. It was then guided into position over the foundation plinth by a crawler crane. Specialist structural designer for the lifting works is Northants-based Lowther-Rolton International.
